Abuse Hurts
Lily dreamed of learning how to HEEL
Instead, she's learning how to HEAL
Take a look at our sweet little girl, Lily. Lily had a tough start in life. In her 6 - 8 months of life she
has endured many abuses, only some of which we can see. A kind
man, a hero in our minds, rescued her when he came upon two men
trying to drown her in the Manatee River. He risked his own
safety to stop the abuse. We thank him and hope that we all have
the same courage to fight the many forms of animal abuse in our
community.
He took her home and when no one else would help, he called Honor
Sanctuary Animal Rescue. We picked her up and took her to a vet
who brought in an orthopedic specialist once he saw the extent of
her injuries. She had a badly broken jaw, damaged and missing
teeth, deep cuts on her legs and a lot of bad memories. Despite
these injuries and the obvious abuse she has suffered, she is a
sweet loving little dog. Her wounds are healing, although eating
has not been easy for her. This surgery has relieved her pain and
will allow her to eat normally once she has healed.
Once she has recovered a little more she will be spayed and immunized. She will then go to a foster home for continued recovery until
she is ready for adoption. The wounds will heal but the spirit may
take a bit longer. This very special dog deserves to live the rest
of her life in a loving family. For the first time in her short
life, she is safe and she is being cared for with love.
Honor Sanctuary Animal Rescue is proud to help animals like Lily,
but we need your help to continue these efforts. We need over $2,500 to pay for her immediate medical expenses and we will need additional funds for other medical attention as she continues to heal. Since we are a volunteer
organization, 100% of donations go toward helping these
animals. We need you to volunteer, become a foster parent or
donate any of the items listed on our site, and we desperately
need your help in paying the medical expenses for Lily. If you
would like to make a donation to Lily's Fund please donate by
